April 2025 Newsletter Those in San Diego’s Fishing Community know that April brings two things. And we’re not talking April Showers or May Flowers (insert groan here)! It’s the start of the fishing season, and Day at the Docks! The Port District has held Day at the Docks as the annual kick off of the fishing season for the last 43 years. The three Point Loma Landing fleets host an “open house” of many of their boats, so everyone can see the accommodations on everything from a halfday boat to the most luxurious multi-day sport fishers. Many boats host sample tastings from the fleet’s fine galleys. Know someone who’s never been on one of these big boats? Some will be taking the public for rides out into San Diego Bay; show someone an exciting new experience and a sea-level view of San Diego! And bring your mad money, because there will be a variety of vendors for gear and other goods, offering great deals! San Diego Rod and Reel will have a booth at the top of the H&M Landing dock with our prize wheel spinning up excited winners! Bring your kids by for their free ticket to fish the pens at the end of the landing. We will be raffling off a Batson Rain shadow Rod with a Daiwa Lexa 300 reel to one very lucky kid who fishes our pen. That’s a combo fit for an adult, so a prize for their lifetime! There will be food vendors, lots of clothing vendors and don’t forget to earn your commemorative 2025 Day at the Docks T-Shirt by volunteering now. The day starts at 7:00 AM with a live remote broadcast of Let’s Talk Hookup, from right in front of Fisherman’s Landing Tackle. There’s plenty of fun for the entire family - don’t miss it!
